Zona Luce: activity started up by FIGC and Scholas in the juvenile prison of Nisida resumed

The project includes a course for sports instructors for prison officers and prisoners.

The second training session developed within the Zona Luce project, the social initiative launched by the FIGC and the Scholas Foundation to promote integration and rehabilitation for those categories in conditions of discomfort or marginalization through football.

Zona Luce, which is part of the Federation’s Social Football Network macro area, officially kicked off last December 18 and provides for the activation of a training course for sports instructors divided into ten appointments, intended for prison police operators and to the inmates present in the Campania facility.

” Sport, and football in particular, for the children of Nisida has always been about competing, acquiring, improving skills and using energy – said Gianluca Guida, Director of the Campania juvenile prison – But above all, investing in a dream of personal and social redemption, which very often has been painfully shattered. ZonaLuce acts as a bridge because it acts as a link between two perspectives: that of children and the educational one of the institute, offering the opportunity for young people to work on their passion for football and at the same time on the management of their passions, on their ability to relate to each other, on balance, self-esteem and listening. In short, on their ability to be leaders of others, but first of all leaders of themselves. To share an experience with subjects who normally live in a different, antithetical and structured relationship – policeman / prisoner, adult / minor, controller / controlled – gives the project an innovative value because it releases interesting potential. The idea we are aiming for is that of a social network whose quality lies precisely in reuniting extremes that, otherwise, would have had difficulty recomposing”.

The next weekly meetings are already scheduled – from 19 and 26 January, 2, 9, 16 and 23 February and 2 March – entrusted to a specific territorial staff made up of representatives and technicians of the Youth and School Sector of the FIGC, Scholas and of the Nisida detention center.
