Zona Luce: Scholas and FIGC social project in Turin’s juvenile prison is completed

On Friday, July 30, the course of Zona Luce, the social project developed by the Youth and School Sector of the FIGC and the Scholas Foundation, in collaboration with the Association EssereUmani, ended inside the Turin juvenile prison Ferrante Aporti.

The initiative, which started on June 11 and was divided into ten meetings, is part of the Social Football Network, macroarea of the Italian Football Federation, and is aimed at prison police officers and young people in detention, with the aim of protecting and strengthening the educational, moral and cultural value of soccer through a path for the training of sports instructors, aimed at transferring to the recipients the necessary skills to be able to continue an activity in the world of soccer at the end of the sentence.

There were about twenty young people involved in the activity of a technical nature by the staff of the SGS Piedmont and Aosta Valley Coordination – the regional manager Fabio Sacco, the instructors Marco Simondi, Federico Cossu, Marco Pizzato, Luca Piccarreta and Filippo Pichetta, the sport psychologist Nadin Della Bella, led by the Coordinator Luciano Loparco – assisted by the Scholas technicians, coordinated by the responsible of the sport area in Italy, Mario del Verme, who started with the beneficiaries a training path, but above all educational and value-based.

Contextually to the sport activity, a monitoring in terms of impact of the whole project has been foreseen, both inside the prison structures and eventually at the local sports clubs in collaboration with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Milan.
