This week the Pontifical Maria Mater Ecclesiae International College in the city of Rome will be the home of the International Youth Encounter organized by the international organization Scholas Occurrentes and the Ministry of Education of Italy.

The meeting will take place on 23, 24 and 25 November and will be attended by about fifty young people aged between 15 and 18 years from various Italian regions including Puglia, Calabria, Lazio, Campania and Sicily as well as other countries where Scholas carries out educational experiences, including the United States, Mozambique, Spain, Paraguay, Argentina.

The young people, led by Scholas educators, will gather to think and reflect on the experiences lived by each of them and the communities they belong to during the pandemic, on the pains and difficulties faced, but also on the opportunities that this change has created.

The closing event will be held on November 25 and will be attended by the World Director of Scholas Occurrentes, José María del Corral and the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi. In this space, the young people will have the opportunity to express to the authorities present the conclusions of these days of meeting and reflection, and also the commitments and responsibilities that they intend to assume as an integral part of an international community in order to create projects that have an impact in the contexts of origin.

Scholas and the Italian Ministry of Education of Italy thus reinforce their commitment to the development of educational programs that promote the Culture of Encounter in Italy and encourage the values of global citizenship in the youth of the country.
